THE LAVA RUN IS AUTOMATICALLY TIMED. MYLAPS TIMING EQUIPMENT WILL BE USED, CONSISTING OF MATS IN THE COURSE BOUNDARIES RUNNERS RUN OVER AT THE START AND END OF THE RUN AND FLAGS.
Each runner must attach the flag to the laces of their other shoes or to an ankle strap. No flakes = no time.
The flag stores a number associated with the respective runner and the timing starts when the mats are crossed at the start of the race and ends when the runner crosses it again at the finish line. Chip time therefore gives a runner's exact personal result, regardless of how far back in the group he was at the start. Time is also taken from the time the starting shot is fired, which is called gun time. It is the time that counts for the results of the race, as stated by the international rules for legal street races.
FLAG RETURNED
All participants get the chip for rent, which is included in the participation fee. At the end of the race, each participant must remove the chip from their shoe and hand it to the race staff who will be located inside the Earth Baths at Mývatn. The flag is active for this one race. The chip can be reactivated and therefore has value in it for gelding holders. PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO RESPECT THE RETURN PROVISIONS due to environmental considerations and costs, thus contributing to a fair participation fee for the future. The flag together with the race number has been registered in the participant's name and is valid only for that person. Deviation from that invalidates the timing. If the person does not return the chip to the employees, he can receive a back invoice.
