THE LAVA RUN

For the eighth time, an off-road race will be held in Mývatnsveit, from Dimmuborgir to Earth Lagoon Mývatn on May 29th, 2026.

The run is 9.4 km long through the unique nature of Dimmuborg, the lava, the black sands and then ends at the Earth lagoon  Mývatn.

Participation fee: ISK 9,900

Participation includes chip timing, gift certificate to enter The Earth lagoon at Mývatn and light refreshments at the end of the race.

NOTE Transportation from Jarðbáðun to Dimmuborg is NOT included. You will be able to buy a bus ticket from Jarðbáðunur to Dimmuborg, the bus departs at 4:45 p.m. The bus ticket costs ISK 2000. and it can only be purchased at the same time as tickets for the race are purchased.

Agenda:
16:00 - Attendance at Kaffi Borgir. Registration opens.

18:00 - Race starts. Starts at the entrance to Dimmuborgir (at the parking lot).

*The Earth lagoon is under construction and will not be open on the weekend of the competition but all participants will receive a gift certificate to the lagoon that they can use once it opens up again.
